Meet The Staff
• ALL our teaching team are competitive swimmers
including current county and regional level swimmers who
train with our sister squad Team Jorvik
• Teachers are qualified in the ASA Teaching Aquatics
• All staff are CRB checked
• All groups have trained assistants who are in the
water
Head Coach - Darren Burchell
All teaching is overseen by Darren whose experience in
Teaching and coaching has developed many successful
swimmers over the last 10 years. He is a former national
swimmer for the City of Leeds squad and now coaches our
sister squad Team Jorvik and the University of York Swim
Squad. Darren is enthusiastic about getting children to
swim and through his use of the "Swimsmarta" approach he
aims to make pupils become more efficient swimmers.
Assistant Head Coach - Adam Milner
Adam has the most teaching experience out of the
teaching team. He has taught from the age of 15 and has
both his level one and two teaching qualifications. His
has a degree in sports science from Swansea University
where he worked closely with the GB swimming team in his final year. His approach and
experience has helped create the fun and
productive swimming experience at Jorvik Swim Academy.
