York based Jorvik Swim Academy
is committed to offering every individual the
opportunity to develop their swimming skills and focuses
primarily on the ability of individuals.
Working alongside Chris
Armstrong, the ASA’s Regional Development Coach for
Disability Swimming for Yorkshire & the Humber, Jorvik
Swim Academy have continued this ethos in the inclusion
of both Physically, Sensory and Learning impaired
participants. All participants will be taught according to their
individual ability following the NPTS, alongside our
unique ‘SwimSmarta’ TM programme, which aims to achieve maximum propulsion and minimum resistance.
With the wealth of experience
of the Teaching staff, the availability of in-water support
and access to specialist disability swimming knowledge,
participants will be given the opportunity to develop
essential skills from their first lesson. These skills
will be delivered in accordance with the ASA’s Long Term
Athlete Development Plan specific to disability
swimming.
It is our aim to give
individuals a quality experience in the pool and to
give them the skills they need to achieve their own
goals, be it to learn to swim or to progress along the
British Disability Swimming competition pathway with our
sister squad Team Jorvik
